To finish off our summer, we joined forces - Ivies and Johnsons, on a most enjoyable camping trip to Yellowstone. I had to stay behind with June for softball tryouts and so Klive could get a cast on his arm, so Winnie got to have some special time with her dad, grandparents and cousins. She finally got to try out a Big Jud's mega burger!
She's a big eater, but I think she decided sharing was a good idea. I'm sure June's cautionary tale of eating a half and spending the night on the toilet made her think twice about gluttony.
Winn and Tukk are pretty good buddies. They are both such thoughtful kids!
They did a little sight-seeing
And apparently this is what happens when you put Winnie in charge of a baby.
We met up with the gang later that night and Grandma Ivie was nice enough to let us all crash at her house before we headed to Yellowstone.
We hiked our butts off for 2 days!
We tried to make a stop at every cool hot spot or geyser.
We spotted animals, too!
The kids really enjoyed Old Faithful! But probably not as much as they enjoyed the flashing glow sticks Misty brought. I'm sure the surrounding campers enjoyed the rowdy glow stick battles we had going on after dark as much as we did.
Broken arms and camping don't really mix. I think I spent the bulk of the trip yelling, "Don't run! Don't climb! Watch where you are walking!" and Klive spent the bulk of the trip in tears because he just wanted to be like the other kids and play.
We camped near Yellowstone Lake, but everyone was too chicken to swim!
We drove home through Jackson Hole. Klive finally found the bear he had been trying to spot the whole trip!
And we finished it off with square ice cream cones in Swan Valley!
