Grandma Ivie's Surprise 90th Birthday Party

Grandma Ivie turned 90 on December 24, 2015. All her kids met up in Ashton a few weeks before her birthday, and we all managed to keep out traps shut about getting together for a celebration in her honor!

The family snuck over to the church and got the tables and food all set up while Grandma was none-the-wiser at home.  It was so lovely - the tables were sprinkled with pictures of Grandma through the years! When it was time for the surprise, Aunt Sue talked Grandma into getting a little dolled up. A co-conspirator from Grandma's ward called and asked Grandma to come down to the church for a "genealogy emergency." She walked right into the gym filled with all her family and friends!
It's been a while since we all got together, but we always pick right back up where we left off.  It was heart-warming to see Grandma's reaction to her surprise and how much she loved to see her family together.  I think her happiest moments are putting on a feast for all her kids and grand kids, even at 90 years old!

Papa and June provided some entertainment for the event.  It sure is nice to pass the bar to June so she can pay her musical dues and I can sit and visit!

After the party, we enjoyed a few rounds of Pie Face with the cousins! It made for hours of sticky, sloppy fun!

We got grandma this etched cake pan.  It's probably more of a gift for us - Grandma's Chocolate cake is the stuff of legends!
