Calling All Super Heros!!!

The big day is on it's way!  June's turning 4 next week!  I can't believe my baby is four!!!  If you can't tell from the invitation picture posted above, she's having a super hero birthday party next Saturday and you're all invited!  It's at the park, so if you want to make the drive from Utah, DC, Cali, Idaho, etc., there will be plenty of super hero cake to go around!  Pray we don't get rained out!  I'll be sure to post pictures of the party so you can partake in the "super" excitement!  Later!

She Aint Heavy . . .

Don't be fooled by the sweet, innocent looking faces pictured above.  I had to capture this shot because loving moments between these two are few and far between.  Yes, June and Winnie always love each other deep down, but their love is a battlefield!  In fact, their relationship isn't much different than the one I had with my sister growing up.  June's an intense, calculating whipper-snapper who's always got her eye on the best toy, best treat, best dress-up, etc.  The great thing about her is that she knows what she wants and she doesn't hesitate to pursue it, especially when it comes to learning new things and she is the smartest 3-year-old I have ever known.  Winn, on the other hand, has always got her head in the clouds.  She hums to herself, is happy playing pretend on her own in her room, and can have fun with a piece of lint she found on the carpet.  Watch out, though, if pushed too far by bossy big sister, the gentle giant blows her top.  She already outweighs June by 2 pounds and June is learning very fast to give sister a wide birth, let her make her own decisions, and never rip a toy out of sister's hands.  It's like I'm watching my life in re-runs!  It's so surreal being on the outside of the arguments looking in and I find myself constantly saying, "Just love your sister, she's the only friend you've got!" and "Someday you might not have a sister close by and then you'll miss each other!"  I've even resorted to singing "Love One Another," when things get dire!  Thanks a lot, MOM!!!  All I can say is, it's totally true, I miss my sister every day!  Sorry Audra for all the cons, bloody battles, mind games, and, oh, steeling your date to prom.  Wish we could have got a picture of us hugging it out on the couch for that one!

Birthday Bliss!

Well, it's official, I turned 27 last week.  I will now proceed to tell you how exciting my birthday was . . . I spent the entire day (and previous night, I might add) nursing a sick baby back to health (you can see how happy she was in the above picture.)  June, however, believes that every birthday is to be celebrated with some kind of dress-ups so she pulled out her festive party duds, Daddy brought home a cake after another long day of medical school, and Curt, Tish and Amos came over to play board games!  I'm not sure what kind of hair-do I'm sporting in this picture.  I think it is called the "didn't have time to shower" do.  Just another day in the world of motherhood, I suppose.   

February Showers!

The blustery weather couldn't keep us down this weekend!  Saturday was a day filled with partying!  First, June was so excited to be able to go to her friend's princess birthday party!  Any excuse to pull out the princess garb and get all decked out! 

Then we had the pleasure of hosting a baby shower for Auntie Tish and, soon to arrive, baby Lyra!  We had so much fun and I hope Tish did, too!  I think she got the "mother-load" of little girl loot which is great because she had to leave most of her baby stuff in Japan and she didn't have a stitch of girly gear (except for Amos's stolen pink cowgirl boots that I'm sure he is not willing to part with!)

By the end of the day, we were pooped!  Well, all except for Winnie, who spent the evening riding the helium balloons like they were buckin' broncos or, as June called them, "Wonkin' Wonkos!"

Add a Little Color!

Well, if you've kept up on Curt and Tish's blog, you know Tish and I took a girl's trip to IKEA a few weeks ago and boy did we shop!  By the time we reached the check-out, we each had carts of furniture weighing over 500 pounds and climbing well above our heads!  In fact, when Tish went to pay, the check out lady finally said, "Oh, sweetie, I didn't even realize you were pregnant!"  It was a long day, but it was great to finally get Kolby some office furniture and finally have some bookcases and living room furniture to set our stuff on!  Its our first house so I'm having a blast setting it up!  Here's a few pictures of our living room since I got some decorating done! 

 

I also should mention that my brother Curt made me these cute wall shelves for my birthday!  He even came over and installed them for me!  What a great present!
