We saved my favorite park until the very end! It was a nice, cool, overcast day - the perfect day to see some animals!
We were tired, our feet hurt, and we were bloated from the previous day of incessant eating, but we were all smiles!
Kali River Rapids was up first - We are so smart to get soaked right off the bat - it was a wild, river ride in search of poachers. Or maybe we were after bad guys cutting and burning down the forest. I can't remember. I was just trying to elevate my butt off the soggy seat and shield my torso and electronics from the inevitable tsunami.
Everyone was still smiling at the beginning!
These two had the right idea!
Everyone took a few splashes!
We rode it a few times. What does it matter if you are already wet?
We hit Dinosaur world, too!
The kids might be getting too old for these "baby" rides, as they call them. We still make them go!
Klive was a little traumatized by the trip we took back to the Jurassic period. Those dinosaurs that climbed aboard our ship were a bit too realistic for our little dinosaur lover. Those baby rides weren't looking so bad after all!
The Jungle Safari was a big hit!
We saw, giraffes, capybaras, crocodiles, lions, elephants, and flamingos!
This girl was on the lookout for her favorite - the hippos!
I know this ride was cut short as we sped across a rickety bridge after elephant poachers! The gorillas wrapped up the tour and no sign of hippos.
So we made a special trip underground to their secret swimming lair where the tour guide gave us the bad news - the hippos had gone into hiding for the day. Winn came all the way to Florida to see the hippos!!! It was a tragedy! She sobbed silently while we took her picture next to this consolation prize - a hippo skull.
This hippo must have heard her heart breaking because it hopped into the pool and swam over to visit Winnie for a few minutes. It was a Disney miracle!
Papa bought her a special hippo friend to commemorate the miracle. He also bought this fierce dinosaur puppet to help Klive overcome the terror he experienced on the dino ride.
We enjoyed our afternoon at the Lion King show! Such marvelous singers, dancers and animal acrobats!
But let's get to the real reason we were there - Expedition Everest! This wild ride takes you deep into the snowy mountain in search of it's monster - the yeti! We found him alright and took off like a bullet! Just when you think you are going to fly right off the top of the mountain, the coaster starts dropping backward down the mountain! It's so thrilling that we all decided to ride it until we puked! I think the final count for the winning riders - June and Caulder - was 11 times!
Check out the look of absolute terror on Winnie's face. We talked her into riding it just once. She said once was enough!
Animal Kingdom was a great way to wrap up our big family trip!
The kids are already saving to do it again!
And it only took 7 days to get a picture with all of us in it! Thanks for the memories Johnson, Ivies, Botts and Rosenbaums!
We partied until we dropped!
