The girls had an awards day at school in May. As usual, I was told about it the morning of. June also swore up and down to me that I need not come as she and Winnie weren't getting any awards. I didn't go. I did, however, show up at parent pick-up at the end of the day to this sight. Apparently, Winnie's last-minute running efforts were enough to earn a medal for running 100 miles during the school year. June was packing two trophies. She'd written an essay for the Lion's Club in March about how to make America a better place. Not only did she take first place out of all the fifth graders in her school, but she took first place out of all the fifth graders in the city of Pocatello! IT WAS A PRETTY BIG DEAL! And I missed it! At least we've got the trophies to remind us of their awesomeness!
