As if driving the 20 hours to Oklahoma wasn't enough, a week later, we hopped back in the van and headed south for eight more hours to New Braunfels, Texas. You see, New Braunfels is the home of one of the BEST water parks in the world - Schlitterbahn!!! Nana, Papa, and Auds braved a horrific flight stuck behind a woman who wouldn't stop barfing to join us in Texas for our awesome family reunion! You know the barfing was worth it!
Nana surprised everyone with these nifty "One Orange Reunion" t-shirts.
Schlitterbahn takes at least two days to enjoy thoroughly. We gave it our all for two fun-filled days and still didn't ride everything!
It was just so fun to have the gang back together again!
I wish the Ivie kids lived closer. I know they miss soaking up all the snuggle time with Nana and Papa!
We soaked up plenty of sun, too!
The original three (plus a little photo-bomber).
Favorite rides: The "lazy" river that was loaded with rapids and took us from one park to the other. That's right - Schlitterbahn has TWO water parks!
The kids enjoyed the plethora of kid-friendly pools, the pirate water tower, and the rapid-filled wave pool complete with a built in rapid river.
ARRRGH MATEYS!!!
The little guys and papa preferred to take it easy, while the big kids spent their time on the racer slides, the dark tube ride and the roller coaster water slide!
It was almost worth the hour and a half we spent in line at the top of a giant tower melting in the sweltering heat and pounding sunshine!
Who wouldn't love a ride around the river on a giant croc?
The only casualty was my sunglasses on the first rapid river we braved. I took an intense wave to the face and forgot they were on top of my head. RIP aviators.
Found these lime green beauties at the gift shop!
It was one great family reunion that ended much too quickly. It's just never enough time when we all get together these days. Makes you wish you could go back to those college days when we spent every weekend just hanging around the folk's apartment playing music. But now it wouldn't be the same without those fantastic grand kids we created.
