Gone Fishin'

Kolby had another birthday in March, but he didn't really celebrate until April this year.  After dropping a substantial amount of cash at various sporting good stores on gear, he transformed into a real fly fisherman.

After 14 years of being an upstanding in-law to Lee Ivie, he finally got an invite to the annual Ivie Brothers Steel Head Fishing Trip!  It was big.  I've been a member of the Ivie family for over 30 years and never been invited.  He was so nervous about keeping up with the big boys, he spent months in advance practicing in the backyard and watching youtube videos to brush up on his casting techniques - but don' tell him I told you.  He was so worried about being the only one who couldn't catch a fish.

Kolby and Dad took off on Easter day and spent a week at an undisclosed location.  My dad swore Kolby to secrecy about the location of their prime fishing holes.  My dad's been steel head fishing every year for my whole life and he and his brothers are pros.  Tour guides with less-experienced fisherman try to follow them around to find the fishing sweet spots.  I think the top-secret nature of the fishing trip adds to the fun, especially when the fishing was as good as it was this year!  They caught over 30 fish!
It's been months since his victorious return, and Kolby is still talking (bragging) about his fishing victory.  I'm pretty sure he's been sucked into this new and extremely expensive lifestyle!
