We Solemnly Swear We are Up To No Good!

Let's be honest, the real reason we saved for two years for a Florida pilgrimage has everything to do with MAGIC! The kids finally got to experience Harry Potter's universe!

Aunt Misty turned all the kids - even babies - into death eaters right from the get-go - in hopes that the crowds would part before us.

Mind your head on the night bus!

We rode the Hogwart's Express from Diagonally to Hogsmeade and back again!

We let our wands choose us! In fact, June had the honor of participating in the wand selection ceremony.  Choose the wrong wand and all hell breaks loose in Ollivander's.  Luckily the right wand selected June! It was just like Harry's own first day in Diagonally! Jaws hit the ground all day!

We tried our best to enter the Ministry of Magic, and we ran into this familiar owl!

We rode the Dueling Dragons (dizzy, dizzy, dizzy!) Escape from Gringott's Bank, and my favorite - Harry's Hogwart's Adventure! Winnie loved Hagrid's coaster.  I think she road it continuously until we made her get off!

Who can say no to Cornish pasties and fish and chips in the Three Broomsticks?

And Butterbeer was better than they ever imagined!

You can't visit Harry Potter World without putting your new wand to good use and casting spells all over town!

 Make it rain, Evil-K!!!

Okay, to be fair, there are other rides to visit in Universal Studios.  The kids had a ball taking the plunge on the Jurassic Park water ride.  Klive also really enjoyed Spiderman's wild ride. The Johnson's and Papa rode the big, giant roller coasters while the rest of us wusses watched some movies set to fireworks and sat for a reenactment of Water World. As you can see, we loved it all so much, we ook next to no pictures of anything but the wizarding world.

I finally got brave enough to ride The Mummy - it was a pleasant, thrilling surprise! These two are such hams! This is what they do everywhere we go!

But nothing beats the magical world of HP!  They are already dying to go back!

Our Epic Family Vacation 2015 - Part 1

In November 2015, we boarded a plane with Nana, Papa, The Johnsons, The Botts and the Rosenbaums bound for Orlando, Florida! It was Disneyworld or BUST!!!

With that big of group, we figured a house would be the best way to go.  It was such a great choice! The kids loved the Disney-themed rooms, the game room in the garage (despite the fact that it was crawling with cockroaches) and they especially loved our own private pool and hot tub in the back yard.  In fact, Klive's favorite part of the whole insanely expensive trip is still the stupid pool!

There was plenty of room for lounging around, playing games and watching television, but there was never any time for that - we packed every day with fun and adventure!

We headed to Disney's Magic Kingdom on the first day!

On the surface, it looked a lot like Disneyland - our home away from home.  But we managed to find a few differences!

We gave the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train a whirl.  The general consensus was it was fun - but we still like Thunder Mountain better!

We enjoyed a quick lunch.  I took home this lovely county bears jug of lemonade!

The teacups are always a crowd-pleaser!
We made a few splashes on the mountain.

Space mountain is a bit of a rough ride in Florida!

We suffered some whiplash!

And we just kept going back for more punishment!

Well, a few of us did.

This looks like it was an intense battle between Ry and Andrew!

June gave me the ride (whiplash) of my life in Autopia.  Good thing she's got a few years before she gets her license!

We came, we saw, we conquered!

The magic was there, but it's got nothing on California's Disneyland!

My Very Patient Models!

I've been doing a bit of face painting for parties, business events, camps, etc.  Good thing I've got all these cute faces to practice on!

I usually have between 7-10 minutes before noses start to get itchy and bums get tired from sitting on the stool.  It keeps me working toward my goals of finishing a face in under 5 minutes and not totally botching it!

Animals seem to be a favorite at our house . . .

Of course, circus it always a winner, too!

Mom School

Traditional preschool might be the way to go for some, but for us, we choose Mom School!  We've been hittin' the books pretty hard this year and it's paying off!  Klive and I have turned every letter into a craft project, which really adds to our kitchen decor!  Art is cool, but he makes me close the blinds when we sing and dance to our alphabet songs.  Guess it's not cool to break it down ABC-style in the living room with your mom once you are the big five years old.  It's been bittersweet watching my LAST baby learn his letters and sounds and discover that if you put them together, they make words!  That's right, Klive is READING!

We've also been working on colors, shapes and numbers.  All learning is more fun with a drill, right?  He loves to quiz me on letters and numbers with play-dough and cookie cutters, and he tolerates ABC memory.

We've even explored future careers options.  Maybe he will be a doctor like his dad, or a chef like, well, not his mom . . .

Or maybe he will be Batman.  Everyone knows, you should always be yourself, unless you can be Batman.
