Today was her day . . . Her big day . . . The daddy daughter date no longer a dream, but a reality! June has been looking forward to this day for several months now. Why? She's only been earning it since October. I suppose I should elaborate. When we first moved here, June was struggling to obey, overcome tantrums, clean up her toys and other typical three-year-old behavior. So we created the gum jar as incentive. We marked the jar with several rewards - a treat, a prize, renting a video, etc. When she made good choices, she got to put a piece of gum in the jar. When she chose poorly, I took a piece of gum out, and it nearly killed her. So, after several months of toiling away at being a good girl, June filled the jar up to the top and earned the grand prize which she chose from the beginning - a date with her dad. And boy are we lucky she earned it just as school was wrapping up!

Kolby let June pick anything she wanted to do for the big date and she chose mini golf! Kolby thought this was a great idea, right up until the point where they arrived at the course and realized it was outside in the sweltering heat! Too late to turn back now, game on Daddy!

June's favorite part: fishing her golf balls out of the water holes with this nifty scoop! What a treat! That water sure looked sparkling clean, too!

They wrapped up their date with refreshing popsicles and bottled water! It was everything she hoped for, and more! Thanks Daddy for making little Junie's wildest dreams come true!

I LOVE IT! We do something very similar. We use poker chips and a jar they get to decorate. Then they get to cash in thier chips with rewards as they want to. All of them are differnt things they get to do with us so it makes it fun for both. What a great date! I love daddy daughter dates. they are so special.
how cute! Love the daddy-daughter dates ;) now just have a boy so you can have mommy-son dates haa.
Good job Junie!! I always knew you could do it, and good job to daddy for making it really happen. Who won the golf match? I bet it was you! I am so glad that you are coming home to Utah, and just today RC Willey dropped off a new queen sized bed downstairs for you guys when you get here!!!hurray!!! Hurry home please!!!
So fun! He's such a good dad for doing that! : ) I'm glad that you were able to come swim today! I am FRIED! I guess sitting in the chair talking while being in the sun was a foolish move on my part. I hope you're not burned like me!
I love the date thing. We have been having to crack down on Benson for the fit throwing. Good Idea. They look like they are have so much fun. I wish we could have a little bit of sun shine.
cute cute cute!! I LOVE doing the whole mommy son dates..Bentley will talk about it for weeks...I LOVE IT! we have a tramapoline too and I decided to do the sprinkler thing this year for the times I don't feel like driving to the beach or going to the pool! cute cute!
Hey Jess, your girls are so cute and I love how excited June was for the daddy daughter date! That is a great reward. Thanks so much for your nice comments on my blog. If I could only still dance, that would be nice. Maybe I kindof can, but I haven't tried for a LONG time! Good luck with the long haul of med school. My sister is finally finishing her residency. It is worth it in the end, but definitely a lot of hard work! So fun to catch up.....I will be blog stocking again soon! :)
Oops!!! Just realized I spelled stalking wrong! Oh....no wonder my husband always makes fun of my Rigby education!
I am stealing this idea. I wish my kids would be excited for a mommy date... but it will have to be a daddy date at our house too. I say that if we wipe the behinds, we should be the favorites, but no such luck!
How fun! You are just full of great ideas for the kiddo's. Sorry that it has been so long since I last visited your blog. I have kinda been a little buxy. How is singing time going? Do you have any good idea's for this week. My last week was kinda a snooze so I guess that I need to spice things up a little.
Here's a little movie review for ya: Loved the story line, loved that they talk openly about what every girl only thinks about, loved their outfits and reference to anything fashion related, however....could have done without the "adult" scenes - it makes me crazy how they have to throw that in just for the shock factor but it adds nothing to the movie. My take on it is that if you are questioning going, you may want to skip it and stick to the edited versions on TBS! However, if you were here, I would have drug you with me!
That is the sweetest idea! I swear, you are so creative!
