We thought it only right to have one last hurrah before the girls headed to school for the year, so on our way home from our month in Utah, Yaya took us to Lagoon with Rylee and Andrew! Yep, she's an awesome Yaya like that.
The girls' first ride of the day was the
big, white roller coaster, aptly named "Roller Coaster." Way to get
creative Lagoon. One ride on that rickety, old wooden hunk of junk and
the girls were too terrified to set foot on any other roller coaster. They stuck to the kids' land and the cotton candy.
Klive couldn't get enough of the cars, boats and planes he got to pilot. He spent the day soaked to the bone after spending his morning in the splash pad, but it didn't slow him down a bit, not even a 10-pound waterlogged diaper.
Kolby's family is filled with adrenalin junkies and they hit all the big rides. They even talked me into trying out Wicked. Let's just say my language got a bit colorful on that one. Sorry Andrew. But the best ride on that hot day was definitely Rattlesnake Rapids.
We had the best day! Then we said our goodbyes to the fam and headed for home. The next day was not quite as awesome. All of the kids ended up with the stomach flu, and we have since learned that our credit card info was stolen at the park. Thanks a pant load Lagoon.
We wrapped up our Summer vacation, pulled out our fancy new wardrobe, and headed back to school on September 28th. Here's June beyond excited, ready to head to her first day of 3rd grade. She has Mrs. Kent this year and is having a ball. We can't get her to stop reading - she's caught the bug. I've also been pleasantly surprised by her cheery disposition when she wakes up at 6:30 a.m. for school. That's definitely new. I'm not going to say a word so I don't jinx it.
And look who started Kindergarten this year! Winnie started the week after June. It broke my heart to let her go and it crushed my soul when she shewed me away from her classroom on her first day, but I really am so happy that she made the transition so beautifully. She is loving Mrs. Westwood and all of her new friends, but nothing is better in Winnie's book than finally getting to use her Scooby Doo lunchbox and eat in the cafeteria with all the big kids. She's sold on the whole school thing. I'm trying not to cry so much. Or linger at the drop-off. Or arrive 45 minutes early to pick them up. I'm trying.
